Adding a convenience fee or credit card surcharge

Convenience fees or surcharges for customers paying by credit card follow rules set by: 
  • State law
  • Federal law
  • Card association rules and regulations

ADDING A CONVENIENCE FEE

After determining the governing rules pertaining to convenience fees, the fee can be added by doing the following:

  1. Hover over the gear icon, and then click Settings 
  2. Under Receivables, click Online Payments
  3. Click the Manage link next to the Convenience Fee option under Credit Card or PayPal payments
  4. Enter the fee you want to charge
  5. Click Save

Note: if you specify a flat fee (e.g. $10), only that amount is charged, regardless of the number of invoices paid. However, a percentage fee (e.g. 1.5%) applies to the total of all invoices paid.

REMOVING A CONVENIENCE FEE 

  1. Hover over the gear icon, and then click Settings  
  2. Under Receivables, click Online Payments
  3. Click the Manage link next to the Convenience Fee option under Credit Card or PayPal payments
  4. Clear the amount in the "Convenience Fee" field
  5. Click Save
