PayPal payables limits

When linking PayPal with Bill.com in order to pay bills, PayPal provides Bill.com with a token that allows us to make payments out of the PayPal account on your behalf. The token is called a Pre-approval Key. Currently, each Pre-approval Key has a limit of $50,000.

Getting a new pre-approval key

If the current approve limit has been exceed, or is about to be exceeded, (i.e. $47,000 in PayPal payments have been processed and the company needs to make $5000 more in payments), a new Preapproval Key need to be obtained.

  1. Hover the gear icon, and click Settings
  2. Under Your Company, click PayPal Accounts
  3. Click the email address associated with the PayPal account in question

If there are no active Pre-approval keys in the Pre-approval Keys section, this means the Pre-approval Key has already expired. Click "Pre-approve Account" in the Pre-approval Keys section - this will open a new tab to log into PayPal in order to confirm the new Pre-approval Key request.

If an active Pre-approval Key is listed in the Pre-approval Keys section, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Pre-approval Key number
  2. Click the trash can icon to deactivate this Pre-approval Key
  3. Hover over the gear icon, and then click Settings
  4. Under Your Company, click PayPal Accounts
  5. Click "Pre-approve Account" in the Pre-approval Keys section - this will open a new tab where you can log into PayPal in order to confirm your new Pre-approval Key request.
