OVERVIEW
If you use accounting software that doesn't sync with Bill.com, use .CSV files to export transactions (bills and payments) from your Bill.com account, and import them into your accounting software.
IMPORT/EXPORT SET UP
- Hover over the gear icon, and then click Settings
- Under Sync, click "Import/Export"
- Click "Setup Account Preferences"
- Click the notepad icon to edit
- Enter the accounts to use from your accounting system
- Click Save
EXPORT TRANSACTIONS WITH REPORTS
- Click Reports
- Under "Export Reports", click "Cash Detail Report" (paid bills)
- Select the dates of the transactions you're exporting
- Click Download
- Save the downloaded .CSV file
- In Bill.com, on the "Cash Detail Report" page, click Back
- Click "Unpaid Accrual Summary Report" (unpaid bills)
- Select an End Date that matches your Cash Detail Report
- Click Download
- Save the downloaded .CSV file
- In your accounting software, import the two .CSV files.
The transactions you import from your Bill.com account will appear in your accounting software as Journal Entries in your General Ledger.
The following Bill.com reports are also helpful as you work to keep your accounting system in sync with your Bill.com Accounts Payable activity:
- Accrual Summary Report
- Accrual Detail Report
- Cash Summary Report
- Unpaid Accrual Detail Report
To export Accounts Receivable transactions, use the Open Invoices and Received Payments reports.
EXPORT TRANSACTIONS WITH IMPORT/EXPORT
You can also use the Export function to export records from within Bill.com. To use Export:
- Hover over the gear icon, and then click Settings
- Under Import / Export, click "Import / Export".
- In the column titled "Export Records to .csv Files", choose how you'd like to export:
- Export All

- Your export report will contain a complete list of all records for this entity. Simply click "Export All", and your export will begin immediately.
- Customize

- Here you can apply various filters to your reports, in order to get exactly the information you need, without having to manually manipulate a complete list of all records.
- After applying filters, click "Export with filters". If you change your mind, and want to export a complete report of all records, click "Export all". Your export will begin immediately.
- Depending on the number of records, it may take several minutes to process your report; you can continue working, and return to the Export History page later to check its progress.
